Asteroids – Atari 2600
The original Atari 2600 box illustrations remain one my biggest sources of inspiration and greatly contributed to my becoming a professional artist and designer.
These reimaginings of the original 2D illustrations pay homage the now legendary artists that created them.
Information
The original asteroids illustration that inspired this remake was by Chris Kenyon who’s box art credits also include Battlezone, Missile Command, and Jungle Hunt. Credits for the package design also include two of my all-time favourite designers – George Opperman and Evelyn Seto.
This and other Atari related content can be found in the excellent The Art of Atari.

Space Invaders – Atari 2600
The Atari 2600’s ‘Killer App’, responsible for helping make the Atari 2600 the success it was.
Originally created by Tomohiro Nishikado, developed by Taito, and licensed by Atari for the Atari 2600.
Information
The illustration for the Atari 2600 version of Space Invaders was created by the artist Norman.
As the first game I actually got for the Atari 2600 (aside from the pack-in cartridge Combat) this illustration holds a paricular nolstagic value.
